Shoot a short horror
Movie Making module - Shoot a short horror
Task- Planning, preparing and shooting a short horror film following these guidelines:
- Groups of at least 4 and from your bubble
- All films have sync sound using the Zoom F8n
- No longer than 2 minutes
- Risk assessments done and signed off by Paul
- Shoot using the Panasonic Eva-1
Ryan was director
I was AD
Stuart was on sound
George and Caitlin were on cinematography and producing
Esme mainly acted but had input during the filming process
Originally we had a church that Stuart found that was going to let us film
Ryan came up with this - Time To Go He carefully planned it so that there wouldn't actually be any horror elements filmed in the church out of respect.
We both went onto doing rough storyboards we created with help from Google images ( I do not own any of the following images)
Storyboards for The Confession  - This was a combination of me and Ryan's original sketches (they were on his whiteboard originally)
This was planned in one day and everything was looking good until the day of the shoot when the Reverend didn't have anyone to lock up so unfortunately we couldn't shoot there at this point but he is happy to let us go with more notice. This is cool but didn't help with the horror film we had to shoot
Ryan spoke to a friend we met last year at Leeds Arts University and luckily she let us shoot in her massive cellar. Ryan quickly wrote a script. Horror 2.0 It didn't have a name so I came up with Horror 2.0 (just so we had something to write on the clapper board) It was thrown about that it might be too long for this task so George wrote a new script on his laptop and we ended up shooting that.
With this our roles changed. George was directing and him and Caitlin were on camera. Stuart and Esme stuck to their roles. Me and Ryan were like AD'S.
This is the finished film edited by George
As we only had a few hours to shoot we were overlooking things like continuity. Plus without a Storyboard the shots weren't as good as they could of been with more time to plan them. I think we all did well with what we had. We made the best of it and actually learned about the importance of the different roles on set.
