Producing task

Producing task - Making movies module

Me, Ryan and George worked together on this. All sharing the role of producer.

Ryan adapted a segment of a Charles Dickens novel Mugby Junction to a short script which contained two locations (train station and city street)

Ryan's adaptation

I Marked up the script and started to visualise it. Adding any bits of info i thought necessary. Stuff like Props, Locations and Actors. I sketched a VERY rough storyboard of the Vernon Street scene. I thought the steps would be great for the bit where the students come pouring out of a door.

George risk assessed the train station and created a very specific call sheet.

We collectively decided to use the university campus for the city street as it seemed the most logical thing to do as in the script there's students leaving a building.

We met up for coffee and to scope out Leeds train station. We picked Leeds Station as the University scene as it could be set at the old Leeds Arts University building on Vernon street. Making the moving of equipment easier from set to set and so on.

I took some pics of the station.

Another reason we picked the Station is the amenities. It's location is easy for everyone to get to. Plus getting all the necessary paperwork shouldn't of been too hard. It has to be up to date with all the latest Health and safety measures/laws in place.

As i was taking photos a security guard approached us basically just asking what we were doing which was to be expected wearing masks. He was very helpful. Me and Ryan saw there were a film crew in a few days before so asked him what they did to be able to film there. They had to go to the Network Rail office as they own the station. They confirmed and just asked the film crew to check with security the morning of filming.

George and Ryan visited the office but it was closed. The security guard advised us to email Network rail Directly.

We headed up to Vernon Street after a coffee and took some more photos

in the script the students are waving to a silhouette in a building across from them. It was suggested to make it easier to shoot to make it the building they were leaving. We all agreed it was the logical thing to do.

Lastly i decided to find and add any guidance on shooting in university and out on location from the eportal and the Covid-19 guidance from BFC that Richard Knight told us about.
