My Breakdown Of Locke

                                                                 What worked for me:

Basically I couldn't fault this film at all! Everything worked. The pacing of the beats and the stakes rising were perfect. Tom Hardy's character was interesting enough to keep me gripped. I think it's important that Ivan Locke is just an average guy as it really could happen to anyone. This made him relatable to the viewer and you really get his emotions as he just tries to do right after so long of lying and living with guilt. I also liked the fact it ends how it does and you don't find out what happens after all this. It makes you use your imagination like a film should sometimes in my opinion.

                                                              What could be improved:

For me I don't think it really needs improving. Maybe a little bit shorter but then I think it might totally mess up the pacing of the film? Maybe it could of gone into his relationship with his dad more but I don't know how they would of done that without again, messing up the pacing or giving you another loose end to think about.

                                                            What can be taken away:

I believe 90 mins is is the perfect length for this film. There's not really a moment in it where I thought it wasn't needed. If I really had to pick something it would be something minor like cutting down the outside the car shots when he wasn't on the phone.

What is achievable for me to do in my position:

This film is totally do able using the studio. You only need one actor so social distancing wouldn't be an issue. Technically I think getting the studio lights to resemble streetlights moving in the windscreen reflection would be a hard task. But not impossible. I could get some drone shots of a friend to mix it up. The phone calls would have to be done in class while we recorded in the studio. If we were to do it the way they actually did it that is. They could be pre recorded though and edited in.

Locke made me anxious but in a way a good film should. Tom Hardy's performance is very intense even though he keeps his cool and is calm pretty much throughout. He's a very relatable character, everyone makes mistakes. This film is a snapshot of him coming to terms with his and all the built up guilt he's harbouring. He wants to be responsible basically. Even when he's sacked from his job as a concrete firms foreman he goes ahead and see's it through as he doesn't want another failure on his shoulders. His greatest fear is turning into his dad who doesn't have anything to do with him.

To me this film gave me the same feeling as when I watched Good Time. The constant stress building up. The main characters are similar too. They are both not role models in any way but you relate to their emotions. In Good Time Connie (Robert Pattinson) plans a robbery but his mentally disabled brother Nick gets arrested and imprisoned. The film is Connie desperately trying to find the money for bail. You really get the love Connie has for his brother in this film which makes you think ,what you would do put in his situation?. Same with Locke.
