Hit Record Task

 

Me and Ryan worked together on this task as we thought It'd make sense for him to find sound and me to find the footage and for us both to edit it with the time we had to complete the task. This did work as Ryan found all the sound first and constructed it roughly so I could be finding relevant visuals. This helped a lot when searching through HitRecord.

We thought the subject matter could be like 'Mother' in the sense that the world is born, nature thrives, man is born and man destroys the earth.

I searched for words like:

Fire, Nature, Destruction, Life, Sunset, Sky, etc to find the visuals.

 I don't really like the HitRecord site for content or it's layout. I found it hard to find singular clips that weren't already in a remix. I wasn't sure how I could credit the original uploader if I did take clips from these? So I decided to just scroll through looking for shorter clips that were not already a part of a remix.

After finding all the footage I started to compile them in an order that would match with the narration and the tone we were going for. At the beginning Earth is born which in this case is symbolised by children playing, sunlight, Greenery etc. So I tried to find clips that matched as much as possible tone wise. 

I matched some clips to the beat to keep the cadence and pace and to make it make sense as a whole. The part where man is born was easier to find as I had already found a few clips like the man running through the burning trees. So this part was pretty straight forward. 

The ending was hard to match visually without being too sudden. Maybe I should of slowed the clip down of the person falling and cut to trees falling or something to show the earths destruction a bit better. In the end it worked out really well. I think it tells it's own story.
